non-destructive testing: guided waves

GUIDED WAVE NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

Our staff are qualified under ISO 9712 and SNT TC 1A in the guided wave method of non-destructive testing.

Guided waves are generated as pulses from sensors applied around the pipe being tested. They propagate using the pipeline itself as their guiding structure.

In the event of defects due to corrosion or imperfections, a reflected wave is generated that can be detected by the sensors themselves.

The technique makes it possible to locate areas of corrosion along a pipeline up to distances in the order of tens of metres in either direction from the access point to the pipe and to identify signals due to defects from those produced by joints, elbows and supports normally present in a pipe.
